Dentures

Dentures will not only provide you essential function with eating, but they also give the necessary support for your cheeks and lips. Without teeth, your facial muscles may sag, thereby giving you an older appearance.

If you already have dentures it is still very important that you have regular dental check-ups to ensure that the soft-tissue and any supporting teeth remains healthy and disease free.

At Wills St Dental Surgery dentures are usually made within three to four weeks. This time-frame allows for try-in appointments, during which patients are able to see how the final product will look and feel.

At the first appointment, an assessment is performed on your teeth and gums. Once your dentist is satisfied that your existing teeth are able to support your new denture and your gums are healthy, dental impressions or digital scans are taken. These impressions or scans are sent to our local dental technician for teeth production, as per our instructions and your requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They help restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

We offer full dentures (for replacing all teeth in the upper or lower jaw) and partial dentures (for replacing a few missing teeth), custom-made to fit comfortably and look natural.

It can take a few weeks to adjust to new dentures. You may experience some initial discomfort or changes in speaking and eating, but this usually improves with time and practice.

Dentures should be cleaned daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner (not toothpaste). It’s also important to soak them overnight in a denture solution and maintain regular dental checkups.

With proper care, dentures typically last 5 to 7 years. Over time, adjustments or replacements may be needed to maintain a good fit as your mouth naturally changes.
