Dental Implants

Dental implant is one of a few options available to replace missing tooth or teeth. It can be thought as a crown held in by a metal implant screwed into the bone. It involves two phases of treatment.

  1. Surgical phase

This involves placement of an implant into extracted or missing tooth site. Before the surgery, x-rays of the           site is need to plan and choose appropriate implant. Once it is place, the jaw bone that surrounds the                   implant grows around it to hold the screw securely in place. This process is called Osseointegration.                       This takes approximately three months.

  1. Restorative Phase

Once implant is placed, it is now ready to have a crown placed. Process of making an implant supported             crown is similar to making a crown. We take a final impression of the mouth and crown will be prepared in           the lab and be ready in a few weeks.
